Learn About the Key Issues Impacting the European Unconventional Gas Exploration and Production Sector

Welcome Colleague,

The EMEA Unconventional Gas and Exploration Forum is an opportunity for your company to take part in a unique event focussing on the technological, environmental, logistical and regulatory issues surrounding unconventional gas exploration and production in Europe, the Russian /Caspian/CIS region, the Middle East and the Levant region.

An unconventional gas revolution is steadily working its way towards Europe and causing energy companies and governments to reassess the fundamental strategies and economics of profitable energy delivery.

The huge successes in the United States and Canada achieved by both major integrated energy companies and smaller independents alike are provoking debate and analysis in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia as to whether the same approaches to Unconventional Gas E&P and market delivery can be replicated in these regions. Important factors such as environmental and regulatory feasibility and impact are already at the forefront of unconventional gas exploration, especially in Europe.

Governments are beginning to understand the potential economic benefits, as well as challenges, inherent in developing unconventional resources such as tight gas, shale gas and CBM. But there are still significant barriers and challenges to overcome.

Underpinning the vast potential of unconventional resource exploitation are the key technologies and practices integral to unlocking these plays. The critical approaches to reservoir characterization, horizontal drilling and fracking, and optimised well completions in order to increase yield-per-well ratios is at the heart of successful unconventional E&P and in turn, both the acceptance and the commercial viability of effective development in this area.

Colleague, The EMEA Unconventional Gas Exploration and Production Forum will address key topics including:

  • The feasibility of large-scale development in EMEA unconventional inc. Shale / CBM / Tight Gas
  • Environmental impact - an even bigger, region-specific hurdle than in North America
  • Latest technologies to unlock the shale and the impact of horizontal drilling and fracking
  • The water question - how will fracking impact local water supplies and flowback / waste water disposal?
  • Improving completions technology and practices to improve flow rates
  • Forecast of feasible unconventional gas projects based on known resource data, population density, development costs - which areas are hottest and why?

Key speakers confirmed include:

  • Richard Moorman, CEO, Tamboran Resources
  • Wieslaw Pruger, President Management Board, ORLEN Upstream
  • Chris Faulkner, Co-Founder and CEO, Breitling Oil and Gas
  • Anthony Hunt, Senior Drilling Engineer, BG Group
  • Usman Ahmed, VP and Senior Reservoir Engineer, Baker Hughes
  • Dr. Frank Umbach, Senior Associate and Head of the Programme, International Energy Security, CESS; Associate Director, EUCERS
  • Mark K Boling, EVP and General Counsel, Southwestern Energy
